Obituary

Roger "Buck" Hylton, 69, of Ammon, passed July 1, 2012, due to complications of a sudden illness. He was born January 26, 1943, in Okanogan, Washington to Lee and Evelyn Hylton. He grew up in Omak, Washington and achieved his Bachelor's degree from Eastern Washington University. Buck met and married his wife Sherry in Corvallis, Oregon in 1973. Their daughter Amy was born in 1976. In college, Buck started traveling with the USO overseas. His work with Lamb-Weston, Washington Apple Commission, Idahoan and PSI had him travel millions of miles around the country. This also led the family to many suburbs of the Portland, Oregon area; Wenatchee, Washington; Atlanta, Georgia; Idaho Falls, Idaho and Ammon, Idaho. In 2008, Buck retired and this led him to his latest avocationas private driver for his beloved dog, Jesse. She announced their arrival all over the community. We will all miss the reports from friends calling to tell us that they heard them coming!! The mall patrons, the greenbelt pedestrians and other drivers on Sunnyside Road might notice the void. Buck is survived by his wife Sherry of Ammon; daughter Amy Berry of Ammon; granddaughters Jade and Gracie Berry both of Ammon; sister Jeannine Metz of Shelton, Washington; mother-in-law Alice Olsen of Ammon; brother-in-law Bob Olsen; sister-in-law Jackie Olsen; nephews Wayne (Sandra), Doug, Ryan (Erin), Kyle (Natalie), Tyler (Becca); great niece Sara; great nephews Ryan, Oliver, Simon, Miles; and our family "Superman" Herb Rockhold. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Evelyn Hylton; and the very recent passing of his brother-in-law Gene Metz. For the last several years, our family was lucky to have four generations loving, helping, learning and living together. He was always happy to be the only man among us. We also want to mention our wonderful friends that became part of our family. Our Thanksgiving and Christmas tables were always full of love and had room for "one more." Buck loved each one of you too and would want to make sure that you knew. Buck had many hobbies throughout his life, Trapshooting with the family, riding a Harley with the wind in his face or whatever new project in his shop. Retirement brought time for him to do all of the things that he enjoyed. By far, his favorite stop every day was to Herb Rockhold's for coffee and brownies. Buck lived his life exactly the way he wanted to. Although we will miss him greatly, we know he would only want us to get together, tell a great story, have a beer and remember when. We plan to gather July 21, 2012, at 4 p.m. at the home of Al and Joanne Glissendorf, 2865 Glenwood Dr., Idaho Falls, ID, 83404. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho, and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com
