Roger Marvin Cook, 69, of Ammon, passed away September 18, 2008 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of pulmonary complications.
Roger was born on November 3, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Marvin Hunter Cook and Jane Treasure Lee Cook. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1956. He received a Bachelors of Science in Business from the University of Utah.
Roger served his country in the Utah National Guard.
In 1962, he married Patricia Kay Roberts of Idaho Falls in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, together they raised 5 children. In 2001, he married Carolyn Jensen Nielsen and they made their home in Ammon.
He lived all over the country including, Hawaii, New York, Arizona, Minnesota, Florida, Montana, Wyoming, California, Washington, Utah and in Ammon for the past 10 years.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full time mission in the Eastern States New England Mission and in various church callings throughout his life.
He enjoyed genealogy, woodworking, traveling, reading, and doing picture puzzles.
He loved his wife and family dearly, and we already miss him. He had a very good sense of humor and a sincere kindness that allowed him to make friends easily. He was very charming, and loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by the following: wife, Carolyn Nielsen Cook of Idaho Falls;brother, Aldon Cook of Midway, UT;children: Whitney (David) Cook of West Jordan, UT; Jay Cook and Brandon Cook both of Salt Lake City, UT; Candice (Michael) Carbine of West Jordan, UT;Chelsea (James) Wilson of Ogden, UT; step-children: Debbie (Jerry) Larson of Chicago, IL; Dan (Jann) Nielsen of Ucon;Sherri (Frank) Longhurst of Iona; Tracy (David) Patrick of New Harmony, UT;Corey (Susan) Nielsen of Iona; 22 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Lynn Cook.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at the Ammon 23rd Ward Chapel, 4030 John Adams Parkway with Bishop Todd Summers officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
