Ronald Lee Nunes, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. He was born September 30, 1933, in Santa Maria, California, to Louie G. Nunes and Irene Elizabeth Brooks Nunes. He grew up in several different places in California. He attended King City Union High School and in 1952, he graduated from Paso Robles Union High School. He later attended San Mateo Junior College. Ronald played football in high school and college. He served in the Army National Guard and then joined the U. S. Navy from 1950-1952 as a Seaman Apprentice, during the Korean War. He married Mary Lou Parsons and they were later divorced. He married Carolyn June Carl and they later divorced. He married Dee Ann Wimmer and they later divorced. He was a Christian. He worked at reviving beef processing plants and helping farmers and ranchers. Ronald enjoyed working on jeeps and woodworking. He is survived by the following: Sons: Ronnie Nunes of Santa Barbara, California and Robert Nunes of Idaho Falls; a step-son, Todd Malmstrom of Billings, Montana; a brother, Dwight; a half-brother, Louie; a sister, Arlene; grandsons: Ronnie, Donovan and Nolan; and a granddaughter, Marissa of Idaho Falls. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 12 noon Friday, May 23, 2014, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
