Obituary

Ronald Lorenz Thomson, 69, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Ron was born on April 11, 1946, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Ronald L. and Vera Thomson. He graduated from South Fremont High School in 1964. Ron attended Idaho State University and Steven Henegers Business School.

On March 16, 1968, he married his sweetheart, Mary A. Rock, in Pocatello, Idaho. Together they raised their two children in the Idaho Falls and Ashton area.

Ron served in the United States Navy for six years, where he worked as a Submarine Nuclear Plant Operator. After the Navy, he worked as a reactor operator, farmer, a salesman and for New Sweden Irrigation.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Thomson, of Welches, OR; his son, Troy (Dianna) Thomson, of Fruita, CO; his daughter, Mimi Priest, of Gresham, OR; his sister, Cyndi Colaianni, of Pocatello, ID, and 5 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald L. and Vera Thomson.

Ron had the ability to see humor in most situations which caused those in contact with him to feel at ease and comfortable. He was a loving father and husband with a love for life, enjoyed the outdoors, and was an advocate of nature. His witty loving disposition will be missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2016, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, with Bishop Brett Webb officiating. The family will visit with friends and family from 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Coltrin Mortuary and one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment will be at the Aspen Hill Cemetery in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
