Ron Carl Messmer, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away on November 29, 2023, after a 15-year battle with cancer.  He was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on July 30, 1948, to Leonard Messmer and Florence Hartke Messmer. He attended Holy Rosary Elementary, O.E. Bell Jr. High School, and Idaho Falls High School.

On January 24, 1970, he married Mary Pratt. To this union two sons were born, Jason Tobias and Michael Todd.  They were later divorced.

Ron had many interests. He was a car mechanic, finish carpenter, pilot, and bird hunter.  He developed a lifelong love of airplanes and flying.  He received his pilot's license in 1969 at age 21. He was a guy who knew things and could fix stuff. After retiring he loved to sit at the airport and listen to the pilots and the tower on his radio.

He worked at various jobs, including R.T. Romrell, B & F Distributing, and Lincare Home Medical.

He is survived by his sons: Jason "Tobie" Messmer and Michael "Todd" (Jennifer Kraft) Messmer; his grandchildren: Caitlin, Chase, and Carli; and his sisters: Carol Messmer and Pat Messmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Leonard and Florence Messmer; and all his grandparents.

At his request, there will be no services.
