Obituary

Rose Jennell Pope, 75, of Idaho Falls, died Friday, April 21, 2006, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer that lasted 16 years.

She was born May 5, 1930, in Henderson, Texas, the second of five children born to Jennings and Ella Wiley Dukes. When she was still a young girl, the family moved to the Texas panhandle. Jennell graduated from Friona High School in 1948.

On July 2, 1950, she married Fred Douglas Pope in Clovis, New Mexico. They made their home in Borger, Texas, until 1959.

She was a member of the Idaho Falls Church of Christ. Jennell enjoyed spending time with her family and shared Christ-like love with those around her. She was a God-fearing Christian woman. She was a homemaker and raised four children with her husband in a Christian home. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jennell is survived by her husband of 55 years, Fred Pope of Idaho Falls; children, Fredia (Dennis) Winebarger, of Belton, MO, Les (Teresa) Pope, Rob (Pam) Pope, and Ken (De) Pope all of Idaho Falls, Id. Grandchildren, Leslie Winebarger, Belton, MO, Eric (Eriola) Winebarger, Oklahoma City, OK, Shane Pope, Albany, NY, Ty Pope, Teri Pope, Kristen Pope, Beth (Jason) Rice, Sarah Pope, Jessica Pope, Emily Pope, and Caleb Pope all of Idaho Falls. Two great-granddaughters also survive her. Survivors also include her sibling, Rea (Johnny) Foster of Bartlesville, OK, Annie Moore of Amarillo, TX, and Bryant (Ruby) Dukes of Colorado Springs, CO. Her parents and sister, LaVerne Pope, preceded her in death.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kevin Mulvey, his staff and the hospice nurses of Aspen Hospice that cared for Jennell.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Fielding Memorial Park . Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Church of Christ Benevolence Fund, 2650 Plommon St., Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402.
