Obituary

Russell Neil Fee

"Russ" died at his home after a two year battle with cancer on Monday evening, November 26th, 2007.

He was born February 10, 1925 to Russell and Laura Fee in Butte, Montana where he spent his first four years as the son of a man who set explosives in silver mines. Then, it was off to Bremerton, Washington where his Father worked in the shipyards and Russ learned to fish the Puget Sound bay for Salmon.

In his mid teens, Russ got the traveling bug and hitchhiked to Nevada to stay with his Aunt. While there, he met a guy who kept bragging about Minnesota - and - soon after, they were both working on farms in the Land of a Thousand Lakes. It was here that he first met Sybil Lorraine Knutson and where he received his draft notice.

Russ spent two years driving trucks for the Army in World War II Germany and had some colorful tales about ignoring the tracer bullets going through the truck as he drove.

After returning from the war, he headed straight for Minnesota and married Sybil on August 18, 1946. They honeymooned to Yellowstone Park and back in a 1932 Ford and then started farming in Minnesota. Sometimes using a tractor and other times using a team of horses, they grew corn, oats and alfalfa. They also raised cattle, hogs and chickens; and sold eggs and cream to the local distributors.

In 1954, they moved to Washington where Russ became a Pipefitter in the Bremerton shipyards. Then, in 1957 they moved to Idaho Falls where he started out as a Pipefitter working at NRF and eventually worked his way up into the EG&G Engineering Department. He worked on several local projects and was a member of the support staff at Three Mile Island at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He retired in 1986 and moved from Idaho Falls to Port Angeles, Washington, then to Post Falls, Idaho, and then back to Idaho Falls where he has remained ever since.

Russ and Sybil have raised 3 children and have 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He has taken his family camping to many places in the U.S. and Canada and enjoyed a passion for owning and flying private airplanes.

Russ's body will be cremated in Idaho Falls and his remains will reside at home with Sybil until she joins him again. They will then be buried together at the Veteran's Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
