Obituary

Ruth Huskinson Birch, 92, of Idaho Falls, died December 4, 2011, at Fairwinds-Sand Creek of causes incident to age. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. Ruth was born August 14, 1919, in Moody Creek, Idaho, to George Albert Huskinson and Maida Inez Johnson. She grew up in Moody Creek, Idaho. She graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1936. She attended Rose's College of Beauty. On Feb. 21, 1938, she married Lee Birch in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on January 15, 1958. He passed way April 4, 2010. Ruth worked at J.C. Penney and Idaho Potato Growers. Besides living in Moody Creek and Idaho Falls, she also lived in Teton. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had served as Primary President, on the Primary Stake Board, the Young Women's President, Relief Society counselor, and as a Gospel Doctrine teacher. She served a Family History Extraction Mission, temple nursery coordinator and on the sealing team. She was a member of the Cultural Arts Club and served as a Pink Lady at the hospital. Ruth enjoyed gardening, sewing, music, quilting, reading, ceramics, cooking, caregiving and spending time with her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the aids and staff at Fairwinds and the staff of Hands of Hope Hospice for their loving care of mother. She is survived by her children: Sons: Barry Lee Birch of River Edge, New Jersey, and Bruce H. (Ginger) Birch of Fruitland, Idaho;Daughters: Linda Jo (Kevin) Bailey of Pocatello, Idaho, and Cheryl (Hal) Simmons of Idaho Falls;9 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren Besides her husband, Lee, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Birch and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2011, at the Crestwood LDS Ward Chapel, 1925 E. 49th S. with Bishop Sheldon Dance officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery.
