Ruth Lois McKell Rose was released from her earthly assignment on June 7, 2025, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Born in Spanish Fork, Utah, on May 21, 1934, to Charles Robert McKell and Mary Madelyn (Madge) Butler McKell. Growing up in Provo, Utah. Lived briefly at the State Hospital where her father was employed until a house was built in what are now the tree streets, she was the older sister to 4 brothers.
Ruth attended schools in Provo, Utah: Joaquin Elementary, Farrar Jr. High, and Provo High School. She attended BYU Provo for about two years.
Ruth left Provo in March of 1955 and drove to Seattle, WA, where she found work. She attended church in the area of the University of Washington and was later introduced to Rolland H. Rose on November 27, 1955. Rolland and Ruth dated for 4 months and then got married in the Logan Temple on March 26, 1956. They lived in Seattle, where they bought a duplex in the Queen Anne area, and had four children: Beth, Ruth, Karl, and Mark. They purchased a home in Bellevue and had another daughter, Cindy, on Thanksgiving Day 1962.
Rolland worked at Boeing, like so many, was laid off in 1970, and they moved to Duluth, Minnesota, where they lived for 2 years and had another child, Rebecca, born in 1972. Then they moved down to the Minneapolis area on Lake Minnetonka, and Sarah was added to the family in 1974. Rolland retired, and they returned to the Bellevue area. The Seattle Temple was close at hand, and Rolland and Ruth both served as Temple workers. Ruth enjoyed serving in the temple. She enjoyed making quilts for her family and friends. She also crocheted 14 altar cloths for the temple. She was active in the LDS Church, serving in a variety of callings. Ruth served a mission for the LDS Church in the New FamilySearch program in her home in Bellevue, WA.
Rolland died in July 2006. Ruth continued to work in the temple office, retiring in April 2011. She sold her home in Bellevue, WA, and moved to Meridian, Idaho.
Ruth was involved with indexing for the church. In March 2012, she became the Stake Indexing Director. She has served as a volunteer in the Boise Temple office and at the Meridian Temple as a recorder. Ruth has enjoyed working with FamilySearch and doing genealogy. She attended the temple often, doing work for her family's names.
In 2019, Ruth moved to the Logan area and lived with her daughter, Beth, and husband, Gary, for 2 ½ years, where she attended the Logan Temple every week. Ruth became involved with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers while living in Logan. Ruth moved to an Assisted Living home in Idaho Falls in January 2022. She arranged groups to attend the Idaho Falls Temple every two weeks.
She is survived by 7 children: Elizabeth A. Rose (Gary) Graham, Ruth M. Rose Davis, Karl D. (Dana Manthey) Rose, Mark A. (Holly Andrus) Rose, Cynthia M. Rose (Michael B) Wells, Rebecca L Rose, and Sarah D. (Blake) Perkins; her brothers: James R. (Marie) McKell, Glen C. (Marge) McKell, D. Mac (Michelle) McKell, and sister-in-law Eileen McKell; 26 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Burial will be at the Sunset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Bellevue, Washington. Services will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/coltrinmortuary .
