Obituary

Ruth Ellen Stacey Munns, 91, of Idaho Falls, and formerly of Bear River City, Utah, died Sunday, September 15, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. Ruth was born November 29, 1921, in Evanston, Wyoming, to Frederick and Christina May Cox Stacey. Ruth lived in Almy, Wyoming until about the age of 8 months, when her family moved to Woodruff, Utah, where she grew up. Ruth graduated from South Rich High School in 1939. She married Reed Abel Munns in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on August 24, 1942. After their marriage they lived in Honeyville, Utah, for a short time. When her husband was drafted into the U.S. Army, she lived with her parents until he returned home. After Reed returned from WWII, they moved to Ogden Terrace (North Ogden, Utah). They moved to Bear River City in 1948. In 2010, she moved to Idaho Falls, to be near her son and daughter. Ruth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Along with her husband Reed, she served in the Kentucky Louisville Mission in 1989. She also served in various positions in the Primary, including Primary President, as well as Relief Society President, and Spiritual Living Teacher in the Relief Society. She also served as 1st counselor in the Young Women's Organization and as a Visiting Teacher. Her favorite calling though was as a Temple worker in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple where she served with her husband for 20 years. Her life was devoted to serving her family and her church. Ruth enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, and cooking. She is survived by: Daughter, Carolyn (Fred) Jensen of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Sons: Jerry (Rosemary) Munns of Layton, Utah; and Ron (Marie) Munns of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Daughter, Marilyn (Eric) Rasmussen of Brigham City, Utah; Daughter-in-law, Faith Limb (Ray) of Spokane, Washington; Brothers: Bill (Velma, deceased) Stacey of Provo, Utah, and Glen (Virginia) Stacey of Centerville, Utah; 29 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren (with 2 on the way), and 4 great-great grandchildren (with 2 on the way). Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Alan; her parents, and 4 brothers: Edmund, Wayne, Jim and Gary. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Bear River City LDS Church at 5870 N. 4700 W. in Bear River City, Utah. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Bear River City Cemetery.
