San Juanita (Janie) E. Contreras, 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at home.

Janie was born on September 21, 1950, in Alice, Texas to Catarino Espinoza and Maria Natalia Garcia Espinoza. She grew up in Alice and Benavides, Texas. Where she attended Benavides High School.

In March 1971, she married Gomecindo Contreras in Alice, Texas. To this union, six children were born. Since her husband worked as a migrant field worker they lived all over south Texas, in Mississippi, and returned to Texas. After 27 years of marriage, Gomecindo passed away in 1998. In 2001, Janie moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where she has continued to live and be near her children.

She was a member of the Catholic church. She enjoyed singing and getting people together. She filled her family's hearts with love and lit up their lives with laughter. She will be missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her children: Anita Cadena, Gomecindo (Juanalillia) Contreras Jr., Maria Contreras-Fuentes, Dorita Linda Romo, and Juan Gabriel (Loretta) Contreras all of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her sisters: Anabel Duran of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Amada Roijas and Olga Garcia both of Texas; her brothers: Adrian Saenz, Adan Garcia, Jacinto Espinoza all of Texas; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gomecindo Contreras; her son, Jesus Guadalupe Contreras; and her parents.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., August 27, 2021, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 905 S. Lee Ave. (corner of 9 ^th and Lee) with Father Francisco Flores officiating.
