Obituary

Sandon Ririe Smith, 69, passed away Friday morning, November 27, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society.  Sandon was the third of seven children and the eldest son of Robert G. and Marjie R. Smith of Milo, Idaho.

As a child, Sandon was a fun-loving and lively red-headed, freckle-faced boy.  When he was just 3 years old, he was in a farming accident.  As a result, he was hospitalized for several months and had to relearn how to walk and talk.  His strength of will and dogged determination not only helped him fight his way through this challenge but many others that life would bring his way.

Sandon enjoyed life on the family farm. Like his father, he had a love of cattle, horses, and rodeo that carried throughout his life.  During his high school years, he took voice lessons and loved to sing. After graduating from Bonneville High School, he attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Kentucky/Tennessee mission. He liked lifting weights, playing baseball, and other sports and reading western novels.  Sandon, (or Sandy as many of his friends fondly called him) loved people, was friendly and had a ready smile for all he met.

Later in his life, Sandon moved to the Good Samaritan Society care facility in Idaho Falls.  While there, he appreciated the new friendships he made and the kind and considerate care he received from the staff.

Sandon is survived by his children and grandchildren, his sisters and brother.

We loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.

A graveside service will be held for his family. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
