Sharon Martha Drowns, 66, of Ammon died Friday, November 18, 2005, at her home.
She was born Oct. 17, 1939, in Idaho Falls, the fifth of six children born to Leo Thomas and Mary Naomi Maxwell. She grew up and was raised in Idaho Falls. In 1958, she graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She attended Idaho State University.
On May 26, 1962, she married Cecil Edward Drowns in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. He passed away in 1974. She was the owner of Sharon's Boutique and loved working with her customers. Later she worked at Lincoln Court and the Surgical Center.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had served in the Primary, Cub Scout Program, the Young Women's organization, as a Sunday School teacher, Ward librarian, Visiting Teaching Supervisor, and she taught genealogical classes at the genealogical library.
As a young wife, she enjoyed square dancing and bowling with her husband. She enjoyed knitting, genealogical work, photography, camping, and going for long drives around the countryside. Sharon was a devoted mother and grandmother and did her best at being a single parent after her husbands death; her life was centered on her family and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by the following: daughter, Janet Martha (David) Tracy of Ammon daughter, Mary Naomi Drowns of Ammon son, Jay Edward (Mary) Drowns of Hobart, Indiana daughter, Melinda Jo Drowns of Garfield, Idaho 9 grandchildren brother, Kenneth L. (Carmen) Thomas of Iona brother, Danny M (Janeal) Thomas of Archer brother, Boyd (Janice) Roberts of Bountiful, Utah
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Naomi and Leo Thomas; her husband, two sisters, Della May Folsom and Louise Kolfkorn. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005, at the Ammon LDS Church, 3000 Central Avenue, with Bishop Steve Hall of the Ammon 4th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Coltrin Mortuary. 2100 First St. In Idaho Falls and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
