Sharon Marie Sweany-Ruddy, 65, of Idaho Falls, died October 20, 2009, at her home from complications of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). She was born June 10, 1944, in Seattle, Washington, the first child born to Willard Sweany and Zola Mae Long Sweany. She lived in Seattle until the age of 12 when the family moved to the Los Angeles area. She graduated from Los Angeles High School. She married Michael Harman. They lived in the Seattle area and were later divorced. She married Brian Ruddy. In 1981, she moved to Bellingham, Washington, where she attended college. In 1989, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She later returned to Washington and lived with her son and family in Tacoma. In 2007, she moved to Idaho Falls with her son and family. She attended many churches but growing up she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seattle. She attended regular Catholic services but most recently, she was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Idaho Falls where she sang with the church choir. She enjoyed needle point, beading, collecting dog and cat figurines. She is survived by the following: a son, Derek (Wendy) Harman of Idaho Falls; a sister, Barbara (Michael) McClinton of Baltimore, MD; brothers: Phillip (Margaret) Sweany of The Colony, Texas, and Michael Sweany of Renton, WA; a granddaughter, Caitlin Harman and a grandson, Richard Harman both of Idaho Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at St. Paul's Methodist Church on the corner of St. Claire and 17th St. Arrangements were under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls.
