IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shauna Lyn
Speirs
January 18, 1959 – December 9, 2023
Shauna Lyn Smith Speirs, 64, passed away peacefully at her home on December 9, 2023. She was born on January 18, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is the fourth daughter of Horace and Theone Smith and the sixth of seven children.
The first six years of her life were spent on the family farm in Goshen. In 1965, her parents sold the farm and built a home in Ammon, Idaho. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shauna loved attending Primary and Young Women with her younger sister Mavanie. Shauna learned needlework from her Grandma Smith, many have blessed to receive handmade gifts made with her love.
She enjoyed baking with her sister Jewel and delivering sugar cookies at Christmas. Shauna inherited the wagging Cooper finger and used it liberally to keep younger family members in line, using her catchphrase, "Respect your elders".
Shauna attended Ammon Junior High, going on to earn her High School diploma from Bonneville High School in the spring of 1978. In 1980, Shauna was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in San Antonio, Texas. She loved teaching people about the gospel and came home with long horns for her parents and siblings.
In March of 1982, Shauna married David Speirs in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. The couple later bought a home in the Cloverdale area of Idaho Falls, and were blessed with three children: Matt, Nicole, and Mark. Shauna and David divorced in 1990.
Shauna was always a hard worker, be it chores on the farm in Goshen, in the home with her mother, or her during her tenure at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center beginning in 1996, transferred to Sterile Processing. She retired from her career in January of 2022.
Shauna loved to serve the Lord, and her family. She shared her talents with those around her and touched many lives. Although she is no longer with us her love will live on in her legacy of scrubbies.
She was preceded in death by her parents Horace E and Olive Theone Cooper Smith, sister Jewel Smith. She is survived by her children, Matt (Jessie) Speirs, Nicole (Glen) Huffaker, Mark (Eden) Speirs; grandchildren, Arissa, Jasy, Calina, Clay, Cayden, siblings; Kent, Louise, Duane, Ethlene, Mavanie, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers please donate your time to serve those around you as Shauna did. If you so desire, please visit your local fabric store as they will be hurting now that Shauna is celebrating her reunion with her family on the other side of the veil.
