Obituary

Sherry Linn Lewis 57, of Idaho Falls, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Sherry was the first child of Steven Z. Lewis and Deanna Lewis. She was born in Ogden, Utah on July 1, 1964. She moved with her parents and baby brother, David, to Rexburg, Idaho to be closer to family. When Sherry was 5 years old her family made the difficult decision to move to Nampa school where she resided for a short time

In 1980, Sherry was blessed to meet John and Mary Blacker, they would become Sherry's second family, she lived in their home until just one year ago at which time Sherry moved into Mary's daughter Kristy's home where she resided until the time of her death.

Sherry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She loved attending church and especially loved primary

Sherry had the opportunity to go to school at Developmental Workshop, Joshua Smith Foundation, The Adventure Center, and Journey's. Through the years Sherry became an active part of the Idaho Falls Special needs community where she had many friends.

She Participated in Special Olympics, Special Needs Adult program, and Adult Girl Scouts. Sherry loved small children and her many nieces and nephews brought her so much joy.  She loved to travel; her favorite place was Disneyland where her spirited personality really shined.

Sherry was loved by so many throughout the years, including foster sisters, friends through school and church, and the many wonderful caregivers.

Sherry is survived by her father, Steven Z. (Anna) Lewis of Rexburg, Idaho; her mother, Deanna (Bill) Edgington of Rexburg, Idaho; Brothers: David S. (Robyn) Lewis of Salem Idaho, Larry (Nada) Lewis of Marriott-Slaterville, Utah, and Jack A. Lewis of Las Vegas, Nevada; Sisters: Carole (Jason) Ard of Lewisville, Idaho, and Alyson (Heath) Leatham of Rexburg, Idaho. Her second family: John and Mary Blacker of Idaho Falls; Ian (Melanie) Blacker of Hailey, Idaho, Kristy (David) Gerritsen of Ammon, Idaho, and Sean (Michelle) Blacker of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Sherry was preceded in death by her grandparents Jack and Raya Lewis and Daniel and Lula Bertsch.

Funeral services are under the direction of Coltrin Funeral Home, the family will visit with friends Friday, November 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Coltrin  Mortuary.  There will be a graveside service Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Rexburg Cemetery.
