Sidney "Sid" Emmett Mitchell, 45, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died Sunday, October 17, 2010, at his home. He was born September 26, 1965, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Robert Mitchell and Verna Hanson Mitchell. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1983. On March 2, 1990, he married Barbie Ann Bates in Idaho Falls. They were later divorced. He was a service tech at Minute Lube with his best friend, Rick, and a mechanic with Smith's Chevrolet. Sid and Rick were just like brothers. He also spent a lot of time with his sister, Cindy, and was an awesome brother to her. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and doing mechanical work. Sid was a big hearted fellow. He would give the shirt off of his back to someone in need. He is survived by the following: son, Wade Mitchell of Idaho Falls; daughter, Amber Bates of Pocatello; sisters: Cindy (Rodger) Coles of Idaho Falls; Bobbi (Anthony) Whitmer of Navarre, Florida; Moana Hepner of Ogden, Utah, and Patricia Hardy of Hampton, Virginia;brothers: Kurt Mitchell of Ogden, Utah, Wally (Nancy) Stewart of Idaho Falls, Kenny (Brenda) Stewart of Ammon, Rick (Kathy) Turnage of Rigby, Darren (Krista) Dye of North Dakota, and Alan Simmons of Idaho Falls; step-mother, Elaine Mitchell of Hampton, Virginia; a aunt, Larare (Dave) Walton of Idaho Falls;uncles: Laneele Hanson and Dallas Hanson both of Idaho Falls;and 1 grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Paulette Pochop. Memorial services will be from 2-5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Sid's home, 1250 Irving St., Idaho Falls.
