Stacey Briant Schmier, 53, of Idaho Falls passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013, with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 3, 1960, in Idaho Falls, the 4th child and only son to Donald and Jennie Stratton Schmier. He was raised and went to school in Idaho Falls. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1978. Stacey married twice before marrying the love of his life, Tammy L. Howe, on June 2, 2001. They have 4 children between them: Tiffany, Amanda, Shanda and Robert. He worked at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) for CH2M-WG Idaho as a Department Manager. In his 31 years of service he held various positions throughout his career. He enjoyed his job and made lifelong friends. In his free time, Stacey enjoyed bowling, golfing, boating, scuba diving, traveling, playing cards, playing with his grandchildren, working in the yard and tinkering around the house. He was good with his hands and could build or fix just about anything, he was very talented. Stacey is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tammy Schmier of Idaho Falls; children: Tiffany (Jason) Jaynes of Shelley; Amanda (Mike) Fiedler of Iona; Shanda Fullmer of Chubbuck and step-son, Robert (Tiphanie) Howe of Pocatello; 8 grandchildren: Carston, Tanner and Zander Wood of Idaho Falls; Taylor and Jaden Schmier and Braxton Fiedler of Iona; Cadence and Nathaniel Howe of Pocatello; parents, Donald and Jennie Schmier of Idaho Falls; grandfather, Quentin Barrett of Idaho Falls; sisters: Teresa (Bob) Vail of Alpine, Utah; Donalene (Dennis) Purser of Shelley and Linda (Keith) Godfrey of Ammon and 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jacob "Jake" Schmier, Dora Schmier Barrett and Thomas and Edith Stratton; nephews: Bryan and Brent Godfrey and a niece, Holly Godfrey. The family would like to especially thank Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their kindness, support and excellent care in the final months of Stacey's life. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday evening November 8, 2013, and Saturday one hour prior to the services both at Coltrin Mortuary.
