Obituary

Stanley Smith Bishop passed away May 24, 2007, at Idaho Falls Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 13, l922, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Harold James and Jessie Hazel Beazer Bishop. He grew up in Idaho Falls, but spent many summers in Lorenzo and Kaysville, Utah.

He graduated from Idaho Falls High School and then served in the military from Sept. 24, 1941, until Dec. 20, 1945.

He served a mission for the LDS Church in the Western Canadian Mission from 1950-1952. After his mission, he married Ramona Lou Cuthbert Jan. 20, 1954 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. During their life together for 53 years, they lived in Idaho Falls, and Anaconda, Montana. He worked at various car dealerships and managed a Stinker service station. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, boating, model airplanes, boats, motor cycle riding, skiing, learning to fly airplanes after being discharged from the Air Force, and playing the violin. He loved the out-of-doors and helping others.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona Lou Cuthbert, Idaho Falls, ID; a son, James Stanley Bishop, Idaho Falls, ID; 2 daughters, Janette (Calvin) Castro, Powell, WY, and Rebecca Marie (Wendell) Hutchings, Aurora, CO; one brother, Vernon James (Julia) Bishop, Pocatello, ID; 5 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Lowell, Don, Westin, and Deoor. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the Lincoln LDS Third Ward Chapel on 2545 Mesa, Idaho Falls, by Bishop Brian Seedall. The family will meet with friends for an hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at the Lincoln Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veteran's Team.
