Stephen Leon (Mic) McMurtrey, 53, of Idaho falls, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

Stephen was born on January 15, 1969, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Kay and Gayla McMurtrey. He grew up in Idaho Falls where he graduated from Skyline High School in 1987.

Stephen held various jobs over the years such as painting houses, landscaping and in-home construction. He was great with his hands and could do basically anything he put his mind to. In his free time, he loved to bowl, watch his New York Jets play football and do all things outdoors like fishing, camping, boating and snowmobiling. In his earlier days, he loved playing baseball but as he got older, he loved to watch our hometown team play any chance he got.

Stephen loved spending time with friends and family, and was always the jokester in the group. He was loving and kind, and would do anything for anyone. He was always the life of the party and had way more fun in one lifetime than anyone should be allowed.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Chase) Luce; his parents, Kay and Gayla McMurtrey; his sisters: Teresa Porter and Kim (Kit) Brocksome; his brothers: Todd McMurtrey and Ryan (Rachel) McMurtrey all of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and a new grandson coming in May.
