May 17, 1948 – December 11, 2016
Stephen Ray Staggie 68, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls from a long struggle with COPD.
He was born May 17, 1948, in Idaho Falls to William "LeRoy" Staggie and Jane Ann Henrie Staggie. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. In 1967, he graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Later, he was trained in OSHA Hazmat and also served in the U.S. Army.
On August 29, 1969, he married Dena Gay Summers in Idaho Falls at Rose Hill Cemetery, where Stephen was employed for the City of Idaho Falls. He worked for Wasatch Chemical, Camino American, H & K Contractors, and for 27 years he worked for Burns Brothers Concrete.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Stephen was a member of the Eagles Lodge and a lifetime member of the Skyline Gun Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling with his wife and grandchildren, riding snow machines and dirt bikes. In his younger years, he enjoyed shooting trap.
Stephen was a fun loving man, devoted to his wife, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His door was always open for anyone who needed a place to stay including many nieces and nephews. He will never be forgotten for the love he extended to everyone around him.
Besides his wife, Dena, he is survived by a son, Jacob Stephen Staggie of Idaho Falls; a daughter, Stephanie (Frank) Arguello of Lincoln City, Oregon; brothers: John (deceased Dec. 14, 2016) and Robert Staggie of Idaho Falls; a sister, Alta (Larry) Simmons of Island Park, Idaho and Texas; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and with one additional on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Joshua Ray Staggie; brothers: Richard, David, Bill and James Staggie; sisters: Carol Ann Staggie and Wilma Dumont.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12-3:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2016, at The Eagles' Lodge, 635 Hemmert Ave. Idaho Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls.
