IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven C.
Archibald
September 27, 1948 – September 15, 2025
Steven C. Archibald, 76, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away with his wife and sons by his side on September 15, 2025, following several years of health complications. Steven's warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. He loved unconditionally and was deeply loved in return by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends.
Steve was born on September 27, 1948, to Ralph and Dorothy Archibald in Rexburg, Idaho, and was the oldest of six brothers (Larry, Calvin, Blair, Creed, Jim) and one sister (JoAnn). He graduated from Rigby High School and attended Ricks College before faithfully serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Montevideo, Uruguay, an experience that shaped his love for the gospel and for connecting with people of all backgrounds. He valued his education, graduating from Ricks College with an AS, Brigham Young University with a BA, and from the University of Utah with an MBA.
On August 21, 1972, Steve married Barbara Jean Hunter of Lewisville, and they eventually had four sons. They settled in Blackfoot, where Steve had purchased an insurance agency, which he ran as Archibald Insurance. Bobbi Jean sadly passed away in 1987 from cancer. Steve later married Marilyn Day, who also had four sons. They celebrated 37 years of marriage this past March.
He loved supporting all eight of his boys in their various endeavors and would often be seen at their games and concerts, at the local theater, cheering on Marilyn and his sons in their productions, or encouraging any and all to join in his love of golf. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to Marilyn play the piano and seeing the family choir grow as his sons met and married his cherished daughter-in-laws. He enjoyed being involved in the community, was a city councilman, amateur stargazer, held a deep appreciation for sports cars—especially Corvettes—and had a gift for connecting with others through stories and laughter: his laugh lit up a room and was instantly recognizable across a gym, theater, or church.
Steve was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many different callings in the church. He especially loved his time as a Temple ordinance worker and in the ARP service mission. His absolute favorite callings involved teaching the youth, especially in primary or in one of his sons' classes. In 2015, Steve and Marilyn were called to serve in the Uruguay, Montevideo mission. Unfortunately, Steve suffered a stroke that prevented them from serving in Uruguay at that time.
His role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was always the center of his life and his number one priority, and he cherished every moment spent with his family. His family legacy includes sons: Todd (Julie) Anderson, Randy (Shauntel) Anderson, Kyle (Paula) Anderson, Matthew (Jennie) Archibald, Brandon (Rachel) Spencer, Spencer (Charity) Archibald, Taggart (Katie) Archibald, and Adam (Amanda) Archibald. He has 35 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who love him.
