Steven Robert Morse left this world on July 22, 2013, due to complications from cancer. He was 58 years old. Steve was born on November 11, 1954 in Denver, Colorado. The family then moved to Billings, Montana, where Steve was raised. He graduated from Billings West High School in 1973 and attended Montana State University, Eastern Montana College and Rocky Mountain College. A life long reader and outdoorsman, Steve's special passion was to learn about and experience the American West. He was an accomplished hunter and fisherman, with a solemn respect for the land, its animals, and the whims and largess of nature. He was an outfitter of the highest quality, always able to navigate any challenge of the backcountry. As he grew up and expanded his acquaintances, there was a time when the family could go nearly anywhere in the country and meet someone who "knew Steve." He enjoyed people, had a talent for storytelling and could visit with anybody, anywhere, anytime. Steve's most adventuresome job came early, when he explored life on the oil drilling platform, off the Louisiana Coast. He worked in a number of other capacities over the years, including his time as a land man throughout parts of Montana and Wyoming. Steve is survived by his wife Angela Taylor, son's Sean Robert and Nickolas Ray, step-children Colin, Mitchell, Kinsey and Jessica Taylor, mother Betty Sue Morse, sisters Gwendolyn (Glenn) Nickleski, Kimberly (Dan) Brooks, and Dana Wier and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He is predeceased by two weeks, his father and best friend, Robert R. Morse. The family asks friend and family to hold close their fond memories of Steve. There will be a joint memorial for Steve and Robert at a later date. Condolences may be sent at www.coltrinmortuary.com Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com
