Steven Paul Ward, 39, of Idaho Falls, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the Huntsman Cancer Institute is Salt Lake City, Utah, after a valiant battle with leukemia, was surrounded by his family.

Steven was born on December 16, 1977, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Larry and Glenda Butler. He grew up in the Blackfoot area and attended Blackfoot High School.

On June 7, 2014, he met his life partner, Richard Lopez. Together they raised their son.

He worked for Nonpreil in Blackfoot and then moved to Idaho Falls.

Steven enjoyed working on his van and building things, spending time with his family was another one of his favorite things.

He is survived his partner, Richard Lopez, of Idaho Falls; his son, Keaston Lopez, of Idaho Falls; his mother, Glenda Butler, of Blackfoot; his brothers: Casey Butler, of Blackfoot, Gary (Paula) Ward, of Blackfoot, and Brian Butler, of Boise; and his nephew, Jacob Butler, of Blackfoot.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Butler.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made at any Bank of Commerce Branch for an account set up to help the family under Steven's name.
