Tamara "Tami" Dea
Peterson
September 1, 1958 – May 24, 2026
Tamara “Tami” D. Brown Peterson, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at Lincoln Court Assisted Living in Idaho Falls after an extended health battle.
Tami was born September 1, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas, to Glen and Gaye Smith. Glen passed away when she was 2 1/2 years old. Gaye later married Rex Brown, who soon after adopted Tami and her sister, Stacy. Tami grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1976. She later attended Boise State University for a year and a half.
Tami married Doug Peterson in Boise, Idaho, and together they welcomed their son, Michael. Shortly before the birth of their son, they moved to Breckenridge, Colorado. Unfortunately, the marriage ended, and Tami returned to Idaho Falls. From the time Michael was born, he became the main focal point of her life, and she did whatever she needed to do to make sure all his needs were met.
Tami was always a hard worker, took pride in her work, and always had more than one job. She worked her way up in the Finance industry, working in Nampa and Idaho Falls, Idaho. Unfortunately, Tami retired early from the Finance industry in 2016 after struggling with health issues.
Tami was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed many activities, but most of all was being a grandma and great-grandma.
Tami is survived by her son, Michael Peterson of Idaho Falls; mother, Gaye Weston of Idaho Falls; sisters: Vicky Brown of Idaho Falls and Jill (Kurt) Wells of Shelley; half-brother, Richard (Penny) Brown of Toelle, UT; granddaughters: Bailey (Keegan) Lackey of Rigby and BreeAnn Peterson of Idaho Falls; great-grandchildren: JR and Korrine; step-brother, Fred Weston; step-sisters: Cheri Jamison, Becky Pugmire, and Tracy Munson.
She is preceded in death by her biological father, Glen Smith; her adoptive father, Rex Brown; stepfather, James Weston; sister, Stacy Livingston; grandparents, Marshall and Blanche Dalling, Oliver “Buck” and Mary Smith, and Roscoe and Donna Brown; and step-brother, Travis Weston.
The family would like to thank Symbii Home Health and Hospice and Lincoln Court Assisted Living for the care they provided Tami during her last days.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to www.coltrinmortuary.com.
