Teddy (Ted) Gene Petersen, 63, Ammon resident, died Aug. 20, 2007, at his home following a long term illness.
He was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Rexburg, Idaho, the son of Eugene D. and Helen Hunziker Petersen. He grew up in the Idaho Falls area where he graduated from Bonneville High School in 1962.
He went on to earn degrees from Idaho State Trade and Technical College, Antelope Valley College and Chaffey College.
He married Christine Rupp on June 10, 1965, in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. Shortly after they were married he went into the U.S. Army where he served until he was honorably discharged.
He lived in Lancaster, California, and worked for North American Rockwell on the B70D Project. He later moved to Montclair, California, and worked on the Apollo Project. In 1967, he returned to Idaho Falls and went to work for Sears, Merlins T.V. and later KIFI television. In 1970, he started Ted's Custom Cabinets where he retired in 2003.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as a Primary teacher, Scout Leader, Young Men's President, and home teacher.
He was a member of Red Baron and Desert Eagle Radio Controlled flying clubs and the Eagle Rock Amateur Radio Club.
His hobbies included: amateur radio, radio controlled model airplane flying, woodworking, spending time with family and friends.
Ted was a man who touched the lives of people where ever he went in many ways. The world was a better place because of him. He will be greatly missed. Ted was a man that always showed great integrity and honor. He loved his children, grandchildren, wife and family very much. He will be in our hearts for eternity.
Survivors include: His wife Christine, Ammon, Idaho: two daughters: Jody (Dennis) Doyle, Long Beach, California, and Lisa (Marlin) Jones, Rigby, Idaho; two sisters: Sonia (Paul) Edwards, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Joanie (Robin) Edstrom, Mountain Home, Idaho; two brothers: Rick Petersen, Ammon, Idaho, and Blair (Catherine) Petersen, Idaho Falls, Idaho; two grand-daughters: Teddy L. Petersen, St. George, Utah, and Taylonna Jones, Rigby, Idaho; and one grand-son: Brandon Jones, Rigby Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, August 24, 2007, at the Ammon LDS 8th Ward Chapel, 2055 S. Ammon Rd, with Bishop Scott Hall officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Coltrin Mortuary, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
