She was born June 30, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Robert Ernest Harris and Hannah May Yates Harris. She grew up in Sterling, Idaho, and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1942.
On June 1, 1942, she married Elmer E. Smith in Pocatello, Idaho. They were later divorced. On September 3, 1965, she married Clyde C. Henderson. Besides Idaho, she lived in Washington, South Dakota, and California.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She enjoyed golfing, bowling, growing flowers, and raising dogs.
Thelma was a loving, caring, giving, and yet a very strong person.
She is survived by her daughter, Ranae (Jerry) Walker of Idaho Falls; sons: Larry E. (Dorothy) Smith of Boise and Terrell J. (Katherine) Smith of Idaho Falls; step-sons: Tom Henderson of Missouri; Jack (Jill) Henderson of Newalk, California; Chuck (Joyce) Henderson of Moses Lake, Washington; Fred (Evelyn) Henderson of Kemmerer, Wyoming; step-daughters: Donna (Ken) Anderson of Lewiston, Idaho; Ruth (Leroy) Dayley of Burley; and Carol (Bruce) Funk of Shelley; 44 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde C. Henderson; an infant daughter, Sharon; former husband, Elmer E. Smith; sisters: Edna Harris, Lillian Orth, Hazel Hymas, and Dora Minium; brothers: Ernest, Willard, Harry, Walt, and John Harris.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls. The family will visit with the friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot.
