11:00 am - 1:00 pm (Mountain time)
Troy Eugene Ellis, 63, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Troy was born on February 17, 1963, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Gary Clinton Ellis and Doris Lee Darling Ellis. He was raised in Idaho Falls and attended Bonneville High School.
A proud patriot, Troy enlisted in the United States Army in 1980 and served until 1984, achieving the rank of Private First Class (E-3).
Troy later moved to Jackson, Wyoming, where he learned the roofing trade and developed the skills and work ethic that would define much of his life. He briefly moved to Boise, Idaho. He eventually returned to Idaho Falls, where he founded and operated his successful company, Raven Construction. Through his work, Troy not only shingles countless roofs, but developed strong relationships and a legacy of dedication and craftsmanship.
Troy will be remembered as the most stubborn, yet selfless, caring, and loving man. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for, and he would help anyone, anytime, without a second thought. Troy found joy in lifting others up, whether through a joke, a story, or simply showing up when he was needed. A true jokester at heart, he brought light and happiness wherever he went. He was an incredible husband, a proud father to his girls, and the very best “Papa” to his grandchildren—each of whom held a special place in his heart. He would move mountains for them without hesitation, and his love will continue to guide and protect them always.
Troy cherished the holidays—especially Christmas, which he embraced with enthusiasm and joy. He had a special fondness for dogs, specifically Tinker, Rebel Pongo, and Charlie. Above all, he treasured his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father and a deeply loving “papa”.
He had a deep love for motorcycles and could often be found enjoying rides and participating in charity motorcycle events. Troy was truly generous in his community, quietly giving and supporting causes close to his heart, including Camp Hayden, the Blackfoot Animal Shelter, Hospice of Eastern Idaho, Bonneville High School, and the Idaho State Police Department.
Troy is survived by his beloved wife, Aundria Ellis of Idaho Falls; his daughter, Alicia Ellis of Idaho Falls; his stepdaughters, Morgan (Kaleb) Owens of Idaho Falls; and Tessa (Carlos) Villegas of Idaho Falls and his cherished grandchildren: Evelynn Owens, Everett Owens, Carmelo Villegas, and Roman Villegas, father-in-law Bruce Horton and mother-in-law Suzette Horton.
Troy is preceded in death by his father, Gary Ellis; his mother, Doris Ellis; and his brother, Ben Ellis.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Troy’s honor: July 18, 2026 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at 757 E 113 N Idaho Falls, ID 83401. Guests are kindly asked to bring a lawn chair.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Troy’s memory to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, whose care and compassion meant so much during his final days. Condolences may be sent online at www.coltrinmortuary.com
