Obituary

Uarda Jane Ball Whiting, 94, of Salt Lake City, Utah, formerly of Ammon died Friday, January 19, 2007 in Salt Lake City.

She was born January 8, 1913, in Idaho Falls to James Arthur Ball and Dora May Rawson Ball. She grew up on the family farm in Ammon and attended Ammon Elementary. In 1930, she graduated from Ammon High School. She attended Brigham Young University where she graduated in 1934 with a Bachelor's Degree and a teaching certificate in sewing and a minor in art.

On November 26, 1934, she married L Lamar Whiting in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He passed away in 1996. She lived on the same family farm for over 90 years. She also taught 5th grade at Ammon and Hillview Elementary School for 18 years.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as the Ammon Ward Relief Society President, in the Stake Relief Society Presidency, in the Mutual Improvement Association, and she taught in several of the organizations.

She loved to cook, oil paint, garden, travel, and she was an avid BYU football fan. She especially loved fishing and camping with her husband and family at Red Fish Lake.

She was a great lady and everything she tried, she did well; Uarda's family meant everything in the world to her.

She is survived by the following: daughter, Marjorie Jo (Rex) Coles of Ammon; son, Larry (Kaye) Whiting of Bountiful, Utah; daughter, Kathy (Blair) Stucki of Draper, Utah; 17 grandchildren ; 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, Elden; a granddaughter, Alecia Whiting;a great-grandson, Tyler Coles; 5 half-brothers, and a half-sister.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Ammon 22nd Ward Chapel, 2200 S. Stafford Dr. (corner of 21st and Stafford Dr.) in Ammon with President Joseph S. Kennedy of the Ammon Foothills Stake officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls and one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
