Vasil "Jim" Hal Whitmill, 80, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at home after battling with cancer. He was under the care of One Source Hospice and Nuclear Care Partners. Jim was born on December 31, 1934, in Shelley, Idaho, to Lee and Ida May Whitmill. He grew up in Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School in 1953. He moved to Idaho Falls in 1955. On September 8, 1955, he married Beverly Jensen in Blackfoot, Idaho. She later died on September 22, 1979. On August 7, 1980, he married Betty Ann B. Walker. Jim worked for INEL for 33 years. Jim was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. He served in different positions such as serving a Welfare Mission at Bishop's Storehouse, a Home Teacher and as a Temple Worker. He enjoyed camping, wood working, traveling and spending time with the grandchildren. He is survived by his spouse, Betty Whitmill, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; a daughter, Sheryl (Paul) Kalp, of Salt Lake City, Utah; a son, Dale Whitmill, of Daly City, California; step-daughters, Terri (Jeff) Nakashima, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Sonya (Harold) Walker-Park, of Ucon, Idaho; step-sons, Layne (Carla) Walker, Rexburg, Idaho; Kelly (Laura) Walker, of Rigby, Idaho; Lance (Anita) Walker, of Ammon, Idaho; sisters, Rhea Nelson and Marlene Crow both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Ted (Marilyn) Whitmill, of Shelley, Idaho; 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; his brothers, Garth, Leo, Don and Ray. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015, at the Kearney 1st Ward, 1860 Kearney Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Bishop Gregory Johnson will be officiating. A visitation will be held for family and friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
