Obituary

Vaughn Maynard Hunter, 86, our beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, of Lewisville, Idaho, died February 5, 2008, at his home with his family, from natural causes incident to age.

Vaughn was born April 25, 1921, in Lewisville, Idaho, to Maud Arminda Maynard and Gilbert Walker Hunter. He grew up in Lewisville and graduated from Midway High School in 1939. During high school he served as the Student Body President and excelled in athletics. He attended Ricks College.

He served in the United States Navy for two years, serving in the Philippines during World War II.

On May 20, 1943, he married LaRue Rigby in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

He farmed in Lewisville and was a very successful businessman, and land developer.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man, he served a mission to the Eastern States. Later, he served another mission with his wife on the Salt River Reservation in Arizona. He also served as a bishop, high councilor, temple officiator in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and was a great teacher of the gospel.

He sang with the Lewisville Quartet and various ward choirs and other choral groups. He loved to travel with LaRue all around the world. He loved to tell a joke and play games with family and friends. He and LaRue really knew how to celebrate Christmas.

Vaughn loved LaRue, his eternal companion and sweetheart.

He is survived by his wife, LaRue Rigby of Lewisville; 5 daughters, Cheryl H. (Sheldon) Nelson of Provo, Utah, Janet H. (Gordon) Timothy of Rexburg, Jolene H. (Dee) Stoker of Lewisville, Karen H. (Steven) Black of Provo, Utah, Becky H. (Edwin) Lind of Provo, Utah; a brothter, Ted (Jane Ann) Hunter of Logan, Utah; a sister-in-law, Nona Hunter of Lewisville; 27 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchlidren.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Reed; sisters: Ruth and Beverly Jean; and grandson, Clinton H. Black.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008, at the Lewisville 1st Ward, 101 E. Main St. in Lewisville, with Bishop James Gneiting officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008, at the church, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Lewisville Cemetery under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary.
