Velda Ellen Bird Storer, 77 of Ucon, passed away Monday February 6, 2012, at her winter home in Washington, Utah. She was born March 14, 1934 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Angus Bird and Ethel Coles Bird. She attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. On August 14, 1953 Velda married Don E. Storer in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, last August they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Together they raised four children. Velda was a mother and homemaker. She worked at Idaho Supreme for a few years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, making wood crafts and oil painting. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family camping trips were a highlight of her summers. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many different callings including a primary teacher, Stake Relief Society President and full-time missionary with her sweetheart to the Texas Dallas Mission. Velda is survived by her husband, Don of Ucon and Washington, UT; son, Brian (Suzanne) Storer of Springville Utah; daughters: Carol (Paul) Godfrey of Billings Montana, and Debra (Mitchell) Marrott of Kennewick Washington; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Vesta (Dale) Cook of Ucon, Idaho, sister, Jean (Paul) Byington of Washington, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jerry D. Storer; brother, Cloyd Bird; and sister, Karen Williams. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Monument LDS Ward Chapel, 10854 N. 41 E., in Ucon, with Bishop Rod South officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, evening, Feb. 10, 2012, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and at the church in Ucon Saturday one hour prior to the services.
