Verdi Caldwell, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Lily and Syringa Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. She was born July 23, 1926, in Bingham, Utah, to Elsie Quigley and Victor Burton. She grew up and attended schools in Pocatello. In 1945, she married Melvin LeGrande Caldwell in Boise, Idaho. They made their home in Pocatello for several years before moving to Howe where they raised their family. They later moved to Southern California to be near extended family. In 1975, after spending 14 years in California, they settled down in Idaho Falls. Melvin passed away March 11, 1995. As the oldest student in her class, Verdi earned her cosmetology license at the age of 35. Verdi was a member of Calvary Chapel. While her children were attending school, Verdi was a member of the P.T.A. (Parent Teacher Association). She enjoyed traveling, bowling, dancing, reading, art, music, sewing, crossword puzzles, pets, and spending time with her family. Verdi had a sweet spirit and outlook on life. She also had an adventuresome spirit and was willing to try about anything and was always a good sport. Sometimes her willingness to try new things outweighed her athletic ability. She is survived by the following: Daughters: Kathy Caldwell and Annette Caldwell both of Idaho Falls; a son, Robyn Caldwell of American Falls; 2 sisters: Odetta Enfield and Joyce Gummersall both of Pocatello; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Calvary Chapel, 4250 S. 25 E., Idaho Falls with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. The family will visit with friends at 12 Noon until time of the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran St., Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
