He was born August 21, 1921, in Mineola, Missouri, to Clyde Gill and Lulu Snowden Gill.

He was raised and attended schools in Jefferson City, Missouri. He graduated from Jefferson City High School and then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. He was an Army Veteran of World War II.

In May 1946, he married Kathryn Louise Kiesebuch in Jefferson City. She passed away June 27, 1997.

He was a member of the Methodist church.

He was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his daughter, Joyce (Eugene) Etherton of LeRoy, Illinois; sons: John W. (Deborah) Gill and James V. (Susan) Gill both of Idaho Falls; a brother, Kenneth (Marion) Gill of Jefferson City, MO; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 16, 2009, from 7-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls.
