September 12, 1928 – August 13, 2008
He was born Sept. 12, 1928, to Ray Alfred Corbit and Cora May Sorenson Corbit in Santa Maria, California. At the age of 4, he moved to Jerome, Idaho, and at the age of 8, he moved to Idaho Falls with his family. He attended Riverside Elementary and O.E. Bell Jr. High School. In 1945, he joined the Army and served in the Phillippines during World War II. He joined the Army National Guard 116th Engineer Combat Battalion in 1950 and served in the Korean Conflict until he was discharged in 1952.
On March 17, 1946, he married Elva Elizabeth Maldenado. They were later divorced. On Sept. 18, 1964, he married Tecela B. Jensen.
He drove truck for Burgraff Construction, Ida Cal Grover, and U & I Sugar Company. In 1977, he went to work for Bonneville County Road and Bridge Department as a truck driver and later as a blade operator. He retired after 13 years.
He enjoyed family get together's and especially playing cards, golfing, camping, fishing, boating, and dirt and street biking.
He is survived by his wife, Tecela Corbit of Menan; son, Dale Corbit of Idaho Falls; daughter, Juanita Govia of Sutherlin, Oregon; step-son, John Jensen of West Valley City, Utah; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Partin of Helena, Montana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Ray and James Corbit; 6 sisters: Grace Blackburn, Nellie Hinckley, Dorothy Brophy, Lola Wilde, Barbara Fox, and Eva Loraine Cox.
It was Vincent's wish to be cremated and not to have any services. His family would like to thank Aspen Home Health Care and Hospice especially Mary Henri and Jenell Campbell for taking good care of Vince. Cremation was under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls.
