Viola Kay Rice, 68, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital of stage four kidney failure. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
She was born on February 3, 1952, in Boise, Idaho, to Leroy Earl Montgomery and Eltheria Loveland. She has six sisters and three brothers. She attended elementary and junior high school in Boise and graduated from Borah High School in 1970. She received an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in January 2008, from Everest College.
On October 20, 1972, she married Alden B. Rice in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were married for 48 years.
Viola was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a Relief Society President, Primary Teacher. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She Loved visiting family and going to family reunions.
She is survived by her husband, Alden B. Rice of Idaho Falls; daughter, Mynde (Robert) Ingraham of Idaho Falls; daughter, Melissa (Eric) Williams of Boise; son, Tyson (Nancy) Rice of Grantsville; daughter, Tiffany (Brian) Pokorney of Caldwell; son, Timothy (Rachael) Rice of Salt Lake City; son, Eric (Shante) Rice of Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-3 p.m., July 10, 2021, at the Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park in Boise, Idaho. Cremation was under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
