Obituary for Virgil William Holverson

Virgil William Holverson
11-27-1940 – 12-22-2021

Virgil was the _5th of 8 children born to Jerry Preston (Jiggs) Holverson and Florence May King. He was born at home at Bear Avenue with his grandmother as the midwife.

Virgil married Mable Lavern Walters March 21, 1958 and their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple December 5, 1998. They were married for 40 years when she passed away in 1999. Virgil and Mable had 8 children together.

Virgil married Barbara Sue Whited on June 12, 2003 in the Idaho Falls temple. They became a blended family with 11 children. Sue and Virgil met when he was the class President for their Sunday School class and she was gospel doctrine teacher.

He attended Riverside, log cabin at Highland Park, OE Bell, and Idaho Falls High School.

Virgil was well-known and sought after for his dry wall talent and expertise. He worked for Rosie Norris Drywall, Hunter Sauserman Construction, and retired from School District 91.

Virgil was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus of Latter-day and held several positions. He was Ward Missionary for many years and loved serving in this capacity. He was a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Idaho Falls Temple for seven years.

He loved camping, hunting and fishing - especially fishing for salmon in British Columbia. For him, all these were family events.

He was a hard working man who worked at any job to support his family. His family was the most important thing in his life.

He is survived by his wife Sue; His children Blaine (Kathy) Holverson, Idaho Falls, Tammy Whitmore, Idaho Falls, Sherry Holverson, Idaho Falls, Wendy (Dan) Robinett, Idaho Falls, ID, Wes (April) Holverson, Idaho Falls, Idaho Brett (Janna') Holverson, Rio Linde, CA, Shannon (Mike) Holverson, Marion, MT, Shane (Shelly) Holverson, Fordland, MO, Melanie (Joel) Keyes, William (Tina) Shirling, Dryden, MI, and Douglas (Jessica) Lantz, Portland OR. His sister Fern (Dyer) Stockton, a brother, Terry (Maggie) Holverson,  38 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Friends and loved ones may visit with the family at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tiebreaker Road on Thursday, Dec. 30 from 10- 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Funeral will follow at 11:00.
