Obituary

Virginia Marie Barnes, 62, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012, at her home. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. Virginia was born May 4, 1949, in Wendell, Idaho, to Lewis Clark and Mary Kay Roff Clark. She grew up in Glenns Ferry, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Skyline High School in Salt Lake in 1967. In 1970, she moved to Idaho Falls. On August 23, 1970, she married Gary Reed Barnes in Elko, Nevada. She worked for United Way of Idaho Falls and Bonneville County. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she enjoyed and looked forward to visiting teaching. Virginia enjoyed sewing, reading, and traveling. Most recently, she was able to travel to Japan and the Czech Republic. She also enjoyed an 11 day Tiger Cruise on the USS Carl Vinson. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, and friend. Virginia loved unconditionally, laughed with pure joy in her heart, and boldly lived every moment of her life. She battled Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) for 37 years and finally succumbed to cancer. Virginia is survived by her husband, Gary Barnes of Idaho Falls; sons: Greg Barnes of Boise and David (Misty) Barnes of Jacksonville, Florida, serving on the, USS Gettysburg; daughter, Amanda (Jake) Gunderson of Idaho Falls; step-daughter, Dani Jo (Dennis) Champagne of Flagstaff, Arizona; Father, Lewis Clark of Georgetown, Texas; step-father, Chris Kuhn of Salt Lake City; sisters: Joan (Alan) Tomich and Gail Cartmell both of Salt Lake City; and 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Kay, and step mother, Nan Clark. Celebration of life will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Virginia's home, 2095 Cascade Dr., Idaho Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Virginia's name be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
