IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia
Soderlund
May 31, 1921 – September 13, 2007
Do you know Virginia? If you do, then you know that she was argumentative, stubborn, opinionated, and terribly independent. These traits enabled this farm girl from Winchester, Kentucky, to survive and prosper in post-war Chicago in an automotive factory. Virginia spent her retirement in Idaho Falls.
Virginia maintained her contact with her sister, Frieda. Occasionally, the two of them would get on the phone and catch up on each other's lives even though they were miles apart.
Virginia was also known as Mom and Gram. She raised four daughters (Biddy, Jo, Ginger, and Sue) on her own and instilled her work ethics and family values. These girls produced ten grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
We celebrate her life with memories of Broadview and Idaho Falls; gathering for Christmas dinner, making ornaments and candy, the sharing of gift giving, the Christmas village, the weekly luncheons, a red rose on Mother's Day, and her conversations with craftsmen.
Virginia is remembered more for the monumental influence she had on her family's lives, and as our personal reference to one of the last of the greatest generation. May she continue her retirement peacefully in eternity with those who went before her, including her favorite furry companion, Cajun.
