IN LOVING MEMORY OF
W. Glen
Clark
September 25, 1930 – January 6, 2018
William Glen Clark,87, of Iona, passed away on January 6, 2018.
Glen was born on September 25, 1930, in Iona, Idaho to LaVar and Gertrude Clark. Glen grew up and attended school in Iona. After graduation he met his sweetheart, Rita Hancock, and they were married on September 29, 1950. Three children blessed their home; Pamela, Annette and Bill. Following Rita's death in 1999, Glen met his new sweetheart, Marva Brower, and they were married in November of 2000.
Due to WWII, Glen was expected to start working on family farms at a young age. He continued his working life driving truck until he went to school to become a welder. Glen secured a career as a welder at the site where he continued to work for many years. Eventually, he moved on from the site and went to work for McCabe Bro. Following McCabe Bro., he decided to follow entrepreneurial goals and started G&B filters service, Wimpy's (1986), and built grain bins throughout Eastern Idaho. Glen continued working until he retired at 85.
Glen enjoyed spending time with his family. They spent many weekends at Palisades Reservoir camping and boating. He enjoyed water skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, horseback riding and hunting. He participated in snowmobile races in Jackson Hole and West Yellowstone.
In Glen's free time, he enjoyed serving in the original Lion's Club (chartered in 1979) helping kids acquire glasses who needed them. He also coached Pee Wee football when his son Bill was playing, served on the Iona City Council, and the Iona Bonneville Sewer District. Because of his rich history at the fair, the EISF board of directors chose Glen as the 2010 Grand Marshall. Glen started Wimpey's Hamburger Stand at the EISF, where he operated the stand until he was unable to maintain it. His daughter and son-in-law now run it.
Glen was a member of the LDS church, and served as the MIA president, participated in scouting, and served with his wife Marva as a temple ordinance worker. He made it a priority to attend important family events such as: blessings, baptisms, priesthood ordinances, and weddings.
He was proud of his pioneer heritage as well his posterity. In the last days of his life, while looking at a photo of his great grandkids, he stated, "Not ashamed of a damn'd one of them, that's quite a legacy to leave behind."
He is survived by his wife, Marva; daughters: Pamela (Brent) Meacham and Annette (Craig) Nielson; sister, Lucille Jenkins; sister-in-law, Patricia Clark; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and the loved animal of his life, their dog 'MUTTS".
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and sweetheart of 49 years, Rita; his son, Bill Clark; his brother, Dick Clark; sister, Patrecia Denning; and granddaughter, Stephanie Nielson.
