IN LOVING MEMORY OF
W Marie
Rice
January 26, 1925 – September 10, 2007
She was born in Jamestown, Kentucky, in 1925, the daughter of Homer and Maude Pierce. She married William M. Oliver and during his service in World War II, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio with her parents. After the war she lived in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Portsmouth, Ohio before relocating to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Marie and William had three children, B. Faye, Robert Lawrence and Joyce Lynn. After her divorce, Marie marred George H. Rice. They resided for a short time in Pocatello before returning to Idaho Falls.
Marie was a longtime employee of Sears in Idaho Falls. She enjoyed gardening, reading and crafting decorations for the house, especially for the holiday seasons.
Marie was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Lynn Oliver, who died at a young age, daughter B. Faye Brown, William Oliver, George Rice, and most recently her son, Robert L. Oliver.
Marie is survived by her three grandchildren, Gregory L. Brown, Douglas William Brown and Deke Daniels. She also has four great grandchildren, Tyler Brown, Jayci Brown, Sophia Brown and Ethan Brown.
Marie was a woman who touched the lives of people wherever she went. The world was a better place because of her. She loved her children, grandchildren, and family very much. Marie was lovingly called "The Sarge" by her grandchildren. Her no-nonsense attitude and tough love helped her grandchildren, "her boys" as she called them, grow into men that loved and appreciated her; and always knew how to respect and treat women right because of her. She will be in our hearts for an eternity, and dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, in Idaho Falls. Burial will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com
