Wanda Miskin Parker, 95, passed away on December 24, 2013 at her home in Maricopa, AZ. Wanda's husband, Woodrow Parker, preceded her in death in 2010. At the time of "Woody's" death, the couple had been married for 66 years. Wanda was born in Ucon, Idaho on June 4, 1918, to Luvina Belnap and Arthur R. Miskin. Twelve siblings preceded her in death. Wanda is survived by a brother, Gilbert Miskin; her son Darwin Parker (Sande) of Richland, WA; daughters, Lorraine Crook (Lee) of Maricopa, AZ, Karla Larsen (Eric) of Billings, MT, Shannon Jones (Leon) of Kennewick, WA, and Sherry Wadsworth (David) of Las Vegas, NV. A daughter, Margo McLea (Mike) of Broken Arrow, OK, passed away in 2012. Wanda and Woodrow have 23 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Wanda met Woody while attending Ricks College in Rexburg, ID. While he served in the military during Word War II, she served in the LDS Western States Mission. They were married on August 3, 1943, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After the war, the couple farmed in St. Anthony, ID and later in St. Ignatius, MT. In 1959, the family moved to Idaho Falls, ID where they finished rearing their children. Wanda worked for the Selective Service, Farmers' Home Administration, and the Federal Aviation Administration from which she later retired. Wanda and Woody spent many enjoyable hours dancing at Gold and Green Balls and at their dance clubs. They thoroughly enjoyed the company of their many friends and relatives. While living in Idaho Falls, Wanda and Woody worked avidly to build a summer home on Yale Creek in Island Park, ID. In the late "seventies," they sold their Idaho Falls home and moved to Mesa, AZ. During retirement years Wanda and Woody spent many wonderful summers in their Island Park home and warm winters in their Mesa, AZ home. Wanda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. She and Woody served three missions for the church: Nashville, TN; the Visitors' Center in Laie, HI; and the Family History Center in Mesa, AZ. A devastating accident occurred in 1991 damaging Wanda's health for the remainder of her life. However, because of her strong will and remarkable determination, Wanda was able to recover to an unexpected degree. The couple sold their AZ and Island Park homes and relocated in Kennewick, WA. Wanda patiently took responsibility for much of Woody's care in his declining years. After Woody's death, Wanda lived in Arizona with a daughter until her time of death. Those wishing to pay respects to Wanda privately may do so Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 1st St, Idaho Falls, ID between 7:00-8:30 P.M.
