Obituary

Dr. Warren Thomas Sutton died early Wednesday morning after a prolonged illness of many years. He was a well-known and respected surgeon of 30 years to the southeastern Idaho community. He was born in Caldwell, Idaho, on February 9, 1930. Soon after his birth, he was brought to Idaho Falls by his parents, Thomas L. and Jennie Seedall Sutton. He grew up with his two sisters, Patricia and Margaret Ruth. He developed a desire for medicine as a career in high school. He was a graduate of Idaho Falls High School and the University of Idaho. He was accepted and graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago. He met there and subsequently married his wife, Jean Ann Griffith, in 1955. Upon completion of his medical internship, he entered the U.S. Navy as an officer. After completing his residency in Chicago in 1963, he and his wife returned to Idaho Falls to start his surgical practice. He was active in the medical community and served a term as medical staff president of the Idaho Falls Consolidated Hospitals. He was a life long member of the American Medical Association, the Idaho Medical Association, and the Idaho Falls Medical Society. He retired from medical practice in 1992. Dr. Sutton was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple to his wife and children in 1964. He is survived by three sons, Stephen (Kathy) Sutton, Dr. Thomas (Staci) Sutton, and Dr. Mark (Tiffani) Sutton and 5 grandchildren, Broderick, Gabrielle, Eric, McKenna and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his niece, Alexandra, his son Matthew, and his wife, Jean. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2005, at the Sunnyside Village Ward chapel, 260 Castlerock Lane, with Bishop Kevin Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2005, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at Fielding Memorial Cemetery with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
