He was born March 15, 1927, in Newdale, Idaho to Irvin P. Butler and Ruby Evelyn Fulk Butler. He was born deaf due to his mother having German Measles during her pregnancy. He grew up in Newdale, but attended school in Gooding for the Deaf and Blind where he graduated in 1945.
He worked for the Neibaur Brothers Farms in the American Falls area. He later worked for Lamb-Weston until his retirement. He moved to Pocatello in 1995 where he lived until 2005 when he moved to Good Samaritan in Idaho Falls.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Through the years, he was a member of various clubs for the deaf.
He loved to bowl, joke, laugh and play the dice game called Zilch. Wayne loved his family and friends and never tired of visiting.
He is survived by the following: brother, Robert G. Butler of Idaho Falls; sister, Charlotte Berardi of Pawcatuck, Conneticut; sister, Dea Legler of Eugene, Oregon;sister, Evelyn Ockerman of Shelley,Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Irvin and Vern, and one sister, Shirley Perry.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2006, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls with Steven G. Butler officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Good Samaritan Center for their garden fund, 840 E. Elva, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
