Obituary

Wendy Le Shreve Liebert, 72, of Shelley, Idaho died April 7, 2008 at her daughter's home in Shelley after a short battle with cancer.

She was born February 6, 1936 in Jamestown, NY to Charles and Doris Rhodes Shreve. She was raised in Jamestown and attended schools there. Wendy graduated from Mount Kisco High School in 1954 where she was took part in many high school activities, was voted class clown, and was the lead in the school play.

She married J. Donald Hungerford in March of 1954 in Mount Kisco, New York. He died November 27, 1958. She later married Ralph Liebert on March 7, 1960 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she enjoyed building many Grand Prize winning floats, for the Egin Bench Ward, for the St. Anthony Pioneer Day Parade.

She enjoyed working with her husband on the family farm in the Egin Bench area (west of St. Anthony). She loved camping, boating, fishing, yard work, gardening, canning, cooking, and she loved making the holidays special. All special events centered around great food and old family recipes.

After Ralph's death in March of 2000 Wendy moved to Idaho Falls to be with her daughter, Nicole. They had many happy times together. She enjoyed working at EIRMC as a volunteer and in 2005 she received Beta Sigma Phi's Woman of the Year Award for outstanding commitment and dedication to her family and community.

In 2007 her daughter, Gale, declared it was her turn to have mother come and live with her. Although their time together was short, they made many happy memories and it was a special time for the entire family.

Wendy loved all people and was truly loved by all who knew her. She had great empathy and compassion and always wanted to help the underdog. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed making special memories with friends and family. She was known as the one who made everything fun with her sense of humor and great enthusiasm for life. She was dearly loved by all of her grandchildren. Whenever they were leaving to go somewhere she would slip them more money, unbeknownst to their parents. They joked about putting a sign up over her bedroom door that said, "What happens in grandma's room, stays in grandma's room."

Wendy had some health challenges throughout her life. She lost 2 husbands and 2 sons to death but was never heard to complain or ask why. She was upbeat and cheerful to the end. She hated contention and was always a peacemaker. Her kindness and generosity endeared her to all who knew her.

She is survived by her 3 daughters; Gale Dredge (Holland) of Shelley, Nicole Cardona (Jesse) of Ammon, and Tauni Beard (Danny) of Rexburg; two step-sons, Scott Liebert (Evalee) of St. Anthony, and Jeff Liebert (Heidi) of Rigby; and one sister Dona Pierce (Bob) of St. Anthony; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  her two husbands,  one brother James Shreve, and two sons Jonathan Hungerford and Shawn Liebert.
