He was born May 17, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to William R. Lords and Agnes Lutz Lords. In 1931, the family moved to Rexburg, where he attended Washington and Adams Elementary schools, and three years at Madison high School. In 1943, he joined the U.S. Navy Seabees. He served overseas on two different occasions during World War II with the 86th Battalion first in the Aleutian Islands and then Okinawa, Japan.
On April 19, 1945, he married Shirley Brown in the Logan LDS Temple. Following his discharge from the Navy, he attended and graduated from North Fremont (Ashton) High School.
He and Shirley made their home in Idaho Falls where he was in the auto parts business for 50 years; the last 17 years in partnership with his very dear friend, George H. Quinton.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Ward Clerk, Bishop's Counselor, missionary, teacher, Scoutmaster, Temple Officiator, High Counselor, and other callings.
He enjoyed back-packing, traveling, family history, and Christmas.
Bill was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family, his church, his work, his friends and his neighbors.
He is survived by the following: wife, Shirley Lords of Iona two daughters, Pamela (Dale) Nalder of Boise, and Peggy (Bill) Alexander of Boise, and two sons Jeff W. (Julia) Lords of Denver, CO, and Todd C. (Patty) Lords of Idaho Falls, three brothers, Alvin J. (Lois) Lords of Henderson, Nevada; Reed J. (Shirlene) Lords of Idaho Falls brother; and Spencer (Beth) Lords of Idaho Falls, 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Patricia.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS 32nd Ward, 2349 Virlow with Bishop Geoffrey Thomas of the Iona 5th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 7-9:00 p.m. at Coltrin mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and on Friday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
