William "Bill" Lamar Read of Rigby, Idaho, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Bill was born December 6, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to William Read and Lucille Meyer Read. He grew up in Idaho and Montana as his father went wherever there was work. From the age of 10, Bill was raised in Idaho Falls by his aunt, Vera Miller. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Bill enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and was stationed in Hawaii for the duration of World War II. On August 26, 1948, Bill married Joyce LaPriel Burke. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 8, 1955. He worked at INEL for 40 years except for a brief stint at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Bill retired in 1995. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. After retirement, he enjoyed taking his trailer camping with Joyce and friends during the week. Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce of Rigby, Idaho; his six children: Ken(Candee) Read of Tucson, Arizona; Rob(Jan)Read of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jim(Rachel) Read of Gilbert, Arizona; Bruce Read of Rigby, Idaho; Carole(Russell) Sammons of Chandler, Arizona; and Doug Read of Rigby, Idaho; nineteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his Aunt Vera Miller, and his great grandson, Travis Read. Bill, will be missed greatly by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. We Love You, Daddy. Funeral services will be at 12 Noon, Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Rigby 1st/4th Ward Chapel, 401 W 1st South in Rigby. The family will visit with friends Friday, June 15, 2012, at the church from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
