William Lynn Yorgesen, 81, of Idaho Falls, returned to our Heavenly Father peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2014, surrounded by his family at home, after a short, but difficult struggle with cancer. Lynn was born at home on June 15, 1932, the second of three boys. He was premature and so small that the doctor said he wouldn't make it, but he was a fighter and he proved that doctor wrong. He and his brothers, Ralph DelMar and Douglas Lloyd grew up in Grant, Idaho with loving parents, Lloyd and Vera Criddle Yorgesen. As a child, he loved to go fishing with his brothers and father. He attended Rigby High School where he was class president his senior year. He went on to attend BYU, earning a Bachelor's degree in animal husbandry. He served his country courageously and his church faithfully. From 1950 to 1952 he served in the United States Army, fighting in the Korean War alongside his brother DelMar. He was an active and devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church his entire life, serving a mission in the Texas Louisiana Mission from 1953 to 1955 as well as in many callings over the years including branch president. On December 2, 1955, Lynn married Patsy Lou Helm. Patsy was his soul mate, the love of his life whom he shared his life with for 58 years. Out of their great love came four children: Vicki Lynn Bailey, Lisa Ann Harding (Marv), Carrie Elaine Yorgesen, Lanna Joy Cochran (Shawn), 13 grandchildren: Charlotte (Ryan), Melissa (Brandon), Kim (Flint), Patrick, Anne (Dusty), Brooke, Jocelynn, Kaeley, Erica (Colby), Cody, Brittany, Emily and Zack, and four great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Brinlee, Alexia and Bailey, with two more on the way. He is also survived by a brother, Douglas Lloyd Yorgensen (Valeen), and sister-in-law, Deanna Yorgesen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd (1981) and Vera (February 22, 1997), and brother, DelMar (2003). He and Patsy lived in Utah, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Washington before returning to Idaho Falls in 1980, where they bought the house they would call home for the remainder of his long life. Son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and friend, Lynn lived a long and full life where he loved and was loved by many. He had a smile that lit up the room, a laugh that brought joy, and he gave the best hugs. He will be greatly missed but we look forward to the day when he will greet each of us in Heaven with open arms and a big smile. His is a legacy that will live on and not be forgotten. Lynn was a good husband and father, his family always being his first priority. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the Iona LDS 7th Ward Chapel, 1040 N. Crimson with Bishop Doug Weber officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
