Wilma Joyce (Williams) Hagler (known to friends and family as Joyce) passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, James and Shelly Hagler, in Rigby, Idaho, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, just one week from her 96th birthday. Many of the family gathered to celebrate her birthday.

Joyce was born on July 29, 1930, in Pocatello, Idaho, to William Williams and Wilma Stanger. She grew up mostly in Pocatello, where she attended school and enjoyed horseback riding, playing ball, and spending time with family.

In 1947, Joyce married Charles (Chuck) Albert Hagler, and they shared 61 years together. She is survived by her children Charles Steven Hagler of Canby, Oregon, Laurie Rae Newby of Reedsport, Oregon, Dona Joyce Wagner of Milwaukie, Oregon, James Mark Hagler of Rigby, Idaho, John William Hagler of Carlton, Oregon, and Gregory Daniel Hagler of Scotts Mills, Oregon; Tracy Jay Moore of Rigby, Idaho is considered a “son of choice”; collectively they have 32 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Chuck), her daughter Kristie, Kristie’s son Nathan, and Jim and Shelly’s daughter Danielle. Following Kristie’s death, Chuck and Joyce raised Kristie’s two daughters, Lianne and Ladona Johnson.

Chuck and Joyce moved from Pocatello to Portland, Oregon in 1948. Their children were all born in the Portland area. They lived in various locations until settling in the Sellwood area for about 20 years. They then moved to Oregon City in 1975 and lived together there for 33 years until Chuck died in 2008. Joyce lived with Laurie’s family in Oregon City from 2010 until 2025. She then moved to Rigby, Idaho, with Jim’s family and remained in their care, surrounded by loving family, until her passing.

As a teenager, Joyce worked as a Telephone Operator in Pocatello, Idaho. After marriage and moving to Portland, she spent much of her life working to support her husband’s business, Chuck’s Concrete, with bookkeeping and all other tasks as needed 😊. Outside of work, she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed working with the youth and the women’s organization, Relief Society. She participated in and coached a variety of sports including volleyball, softball, and bowling.

Friends and family remember her for her kindness, sense of humor, dedication, patience, and a caring and loving listening ear. She made a lasting impact on many people, including numerous family and friends. Their home is remembered as a place of refuge, love, and support for anyone and everyone.

A Memorial/Celebration of Life was held on August 14, 2026, at Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City, Oregon, followed by an inurnment of cremains in her husband Chuck’s burial plot. It was attended by around 100 loving family and friends who collectively said a fond farewell to a wonderful woman.

Cremation was under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
