She was born December 5, 1915, to Walter Andrew and Bertha Rebecca Stevens Scott in Jackson, Wyoming. She grew up in Newton, Utah and attended schools there. She graduated from high school. On October 24, 1934, she married Delbert John Jenkins. He died July 4, 1989. During her life, she lived in Ivan, Lund, Bancroft, McCammon, Inkom, Idaho Falls, Sterling, Aberdeen, and Blackfoot(Wapello).
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a geneology specialist, working many years at the Pocatello Family History Center, and served as a counselor in primary. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and family history. Winonia loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by 4 sons, Emerson D. (Joy) Jenkins, of Idaho Falls, Ross C. (Denice) Jenkins, of Ucon, Idaho, and R. Gary (Evelyn) Jenkins, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Leon S. Jenkins, of Idaho Falls; 2 daughters, Jeanette Merrell, of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Gloria Mitchener, of American Falls, Idaho; 31 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert John Jenkins, and a daughter, Darlene J. Miles.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at the Wapello LDS 1st Ward building, 337 North 200 East, Blackfoot, with Bishop Mike Cambell officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2006, and one hour prior, both at the church. Burial will be at Riverside-Thomas Cemetery under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary.
